Sony Laptop stream.sys

It has becoming more and more anonying that Sony Laptops are too the shit when it comes to installing drivers by hand. This is a known issue with Sony and Microsoft - whenever you install a driver and try to either reboot, shutdown, hibernate, standby the laptop would simply freeze up. The freeze-up (soft-lock usually) is because of a poorly written system driver (see below).

Installation Instructions:

  1. Download and Extract.
  2. Reboot in Safe Mode
  3. Rename X:\windows\system32\drivers\stream.sys to stream.old
  4. Copy the Extracted stream.sys to X:\windows\system32\drivers\
  5. Reboot and Test
  6. You can validate the patch works by rebooting the computer normally in Windows or verifying the version number.
