Part 2: Windows XP vs. Vista: Control Panel
003 and 004: Control Panel
In both Windows XP and Vista there are the familiar view’s of native Category View and Classic View style. Obliviously, with the Ultimate Edition of Vista there are a ton of features you can configure. . .
New Control Panel Features included in Vista:
- Autoplay
- Backup and Restore
- BitLocker Drive Encryption
- Device Manager
- iSCSI Initiator
- Parental Controls
- Pen and Input Devices
- People Near Me
- Performance Information
- Problem Reports and Solutions
- Speech Recognition
- Sync Center
- Tablet PC Settings
- Welcome Center
- Windows CardSpace
- Windows Defender
- Windows SideBar
- Windows SideShow
Every Control Panel Applet you can think of like ‘Accessibility Options’ is now called ‘Ease of Access Center’. . . This of course is typical of Microsoft to do in which for us Technical Support / Engineers will now need to memorize the new terminology from heart for their MSCE certifications. Why couldn’t Microsoft just have two options where the user can switch the Control Panel view to the new standard and the old standard naming conventions. . . sigh!
