Part 4: Windows XP vs. Vista: Backup and Restore
007: Backup and Restore
The Backup and Restore in Windows Vista now is part of the Control Panel saga and it seems Microsoft is promoting the functionality more than just a far distant icon from the Start Menu - Accessories - System Tools (compared to Windows XP). The Backup and Restore in Vista is also somewhat connected with the System Restore / Protection properties when doing Shadow Copies of restored files. Shadow Copies in short are backups of file versions which then can be restored on your computer. Shadow Copies has been around since the Windows 2000 and some NT variants era I believe.
Makes me wonder if the average user would ever use this feature more so than XP. I don’t use this feature as there are third party tools like Acronis True Image, and No Hands Backup which are way better in doing this process.
